A TRIBUTE TO FANCY (J-DOG)

This week a good friend of mine, also my co-worker, is leaving because her husband is getting a great job. She has been a great friend to me and I will miss her immensely. All the peace, joy, happiness, and fulfillment to you my friend. May our paths continue to cross as we take our seperate journeys through this life. Go ahead Fancy and remember that I will be "thinking of you."

I remember it all very well lookin' backIt was the summer I turned eighteen
We lived in a one room, rundown shack
On the outskirts of New Orleans
We didn't have money for food or rent
To say the least we were hard pressed
Then Mama spent every last penny we had
To buy me a dancin' dress
Mama washed and combed and curled my hair
And she painted my eyes and lips
then I stepped into a satin' dancin' dress that had a split on the side clean upto my hip
It was red velvet trim and it fit me good
Standin' back from the lookin' glass
There stood a woman where a half grown kid had stood

She said here's your one chance Fancy don't let me down
Here's your one chance Fancy don't let me down

Mama dabbled a little bit of perfume on my neck And she kissed my cheek
Then I saw the tears wellin' up in her troubled eyes
When she started to speak
She looked at a pitiful shack
And then she looked at me and took a ragged breath
She said your Pa's run off and I'm real sick
And the baby's gonna starve to death
She handed me a heart shaped locket that said"To thine own self be true"
And I shivered as I watched a roach crawl accrossThe toe of my high heeled shoe
It sounded like somebody else that was talkin'Askin' Mama what do I do
She said be nice to the gentlemen Fancy
And they'll be nice to you

She said here's your one chance Fancy don't let me down
Here's your one chance Fancy don't let me down
Lord forgive me for what I do,but if you want out Well it's up to you
Now don't let me down you better start movin' uptown

Well, that was the last time I saw my MaThe night I left that rickety shack
The welfare people came and took the baby Mama died and I ain't been back
But the wheels of fate had started to turn And for me there was no way out
And it wasn't very long 'til I knew exactlyWhat my Mama'd been talkin' about
I knew what I had to do but I made myself this solemn vow
That I's gonna be a lady someday Though I didn't know when or how
I couldn't see spending the rest of my life With my head hung down in shame
you knowI might have been born just plain white trash
But Fancy was my name

Here's your one chance Fancy don't let me down
Here's your one chance Fancy don't let me down

It wasn't long after that benevolent man Took me off the street
And one week later I was pourin' his teaIn a five room hotel suite
I charmed a king, congressman And an occasional aristocrat
Then I got me a Georgia mansion In an elegant New York townhouse flat
And I ain't done bad
Now in this world there's a lot of self-righteous hippocratesThat would call me bad
And criticize Mama for turning me out
No matter how little we had
But though I ain't had to worry 'bout nothin'For nigh on fifteen years
I can still hear the desperation in my poorMama's voice ringin' in my ear
She said, here's your one chance Fancy don't let me down
Here's your one chance Fancy don't let me down
Lord, forgive me for what I do But if you want out well it's up to you
Now don't let me downYou Mama's gonna help you uptown
I guess she did

Peace Out!!!

LONGING FOR THE BEACH!

If once you have slept on an island
You’ll never be quite the same;
You may look as you looked the day before
And go by the same old name.
You may bustle about in street and shop;
You may sit at home and sew.
But you’ll see blue water and wheeling gulls,
Wherever your feet may go.
You may chat with the neighbors of this and that
And close to your fire keep,
But you’ll hear ship whistle and lighthouse bell
And tides beat through your sleep.
Oh, you won’t know why,
and you can’t say how Such change upon you came,
But once you have slept on an island,
You’ll never be quite the same!

HAPPY EASTER: PART 2

Yesterday I totally meant to post some more words, but then hit the enter button and ended up with Happy Easter only and didn't feel like going back in.
I had a terrific Easter weekend. I went on a short little trip to Dollywood with my fam and had a blast. I got caught up on my work. I had a wonderful time at Church and then got to see my other fam.
My conch came in as a surprise to us all this weekend and helped me with my blog page. New video link and blinkies are all due to Weiner. THANKS SO MUCH!!! At first she started talking to me in all this computer jargon and I was like "Ummm...Can't you just do it for me, because I don't understand a word you are saying?!" LMAO But I must say that I added my blinkies myself after careful instruction from her yesterday :) Hopefully I will be able to change my video once in awhile before you all get sick of listening to the RHCPs.
Anyways, let me share some pics from yesterday:

A Beautiful Sunset!

The Gangs all here!

Fav pic of the day. Looks like someone got hungry!!!

I hope everyone's Easter was a grand one.
Back to work...
Peace Out!!!

Monday, Monday...

Well for a Monday, this day was not that bad. Sorry to all of those out there whose Monday did not go so well.
The weather today has been totally unpredictable. One minute it's sunny and bright and the next minute you would think the world was going to end with all the wind and lightning and thunder. Man alive, for that action I should have at least seen a rainbow :(
Speaking of storms- thanks for waking me up this morning at 4am. It was thundering and lightning all over the place lol.
Well it is spring afterall. I guess I should be used to it. My allergies are killing me this season!!!
That's all for now. Have a good one all!

Peace Out!

Super Sunday

I have managed to milk this STUPID daylight savings time for all it's worth today. I have done all the laundry, finished 21 reports for work, set up my April spreadsheets for work, and completed (and passed) my quiz for class due tomorrow. That evil hour that is lacking will not defeat me lol!
Well Monday is right around the corner and I am looking forward to another busy, busy week. I am not complaining, just counting down the days (actually a little over a month) till I go to the beach!!
Anywho- Have a great week all and I will read ya next time around!

Peace Out and enjoy that daylight until about 8:30 pm :)
